Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois.  Laura earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and her Master of Social Work from University of Illinois at Chicago.  In addition, Laura has her Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Certificate and her 40 Hour Sexual Assault Advocacy Certificate.

TRAUMA

Laura has worked extensively with trauma survivors across the spectrum, particularly domestic violence and sexual assault.  She had worked specifically with survivors and their families to overcome short-term and long-term effects and to thrive in both the ongoing trauma and freedom from trauma. Laura’s training provides the blueprint in assisting clients navigate through the trauma recovery process.

PERINATAL THERAPY

She also has familial experience in infertility, pregnancy loss, and infant loss. Laura’s knowledge of perinatal issues guides her in assisting clients work through the loss and all the challenges that may stem from the loss.

Treatment PHILOSOPHY

Laura believes that each client should participate in tailoring their own treatment plan, focusing on their individual situation, particularly their strengths.  She focuses on empowerment and self-resiliency.  She mainly uses concepts of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in her methods. Additionally, she works with clients to explore different mindfulness practices and self-care tools that work for each individual client.
